Cosmetologist School Requirements in Columbus

So you are ready to get started to fulfill your passion and get your cosmetology license! At the cosmetology school at Aveda Institute Columbus, you will learn hair cutting, color, texture services, nail care, makeup application, business development, retail knowledge, and the concept of gaining and retaining clients. 

Cosmetology is the art and science of implementing cosmetic treatments to people's hair, skin, and nails. A cosmetologist is an expert in applying cosmetic procedures, therapies, and treatments. 

To qualify for cosmetology licensure in Ohio, you must attend a licensed school and complete the state of Ohio's minimum required training hours, and then take the state's cosmetology board exams. To get into cosmetology school, a High School Diploma, GED, or Home-School Transcript is required. 

Depending on consistent attendance, it takes 52 scheduled weeks to complete the 1500-hour Cosmetology Program, consisting of Hair, Skin, Nail Care, and Makeup Application at Aveda Institute Columbus. Upon completion, you will be ready to take the Ohio Licensing Exam! At Aveda Institute Columbus, you can choose to attend three, four, or five days a week. Also, a night program for Cosmetology is available.
