What Type of Salon & Spa Should You Open

Deciding what type of salon & spa business to open can be daunting. There are a few factors that you may want to consider; your hair salon experience, esthetic, your budget, and the demographics within the area you are opening. The decision to open a successful salon & spa has more than likely been a dream of yours for quite some time, so also ask yourself what YOU want!

Franchise
Salon & spa franchises are in high traffic areas near your targeted guest every mall and shopping center. Some choose to open a franchise because you are buying into an established and recognized brand name. You get to buy into a proven business model and work for yourself, but not by yourself.

Own Salon & Spa
Own your own salon & spa. Buy or lease a salon & spa space, create the branding, environment/ambiance you desire and make it your very own.

Salon Suite
Salon suites are a growing trend. You can rent a space and work for yourself without many of the expenses of opening your own salon & spa. You can set your own schedule and are responsible for your own marketing and client management. But also benefit from having the space and amenities of the established salon & spa.

Rent a Booth
With a booth rental salon, the salon & spa owner simply rents chairs to other licensed cosmetologists instead of hiring them to work for a set wage. The owner gets the profits from renting the space. And those who rent the space essentially run their own business within the larger salon. At times, those renting a booth will be required to work certain hours.
