The Nurtur Aveda Institute Columbus offers a unique esthetics school learning environment through hands-on, real-world experience. Located in Columbus, Ohio, we inspire students to exceed expectation and seek lifelong learning beyond the traditional classroom. Aveda believes that education encompasses more than learning basic technical skills. Our esthetics curriculum is specifically designed to prepare beauty school students for the state licensing examination and allow them to learn the technical, personal and business skills necessary to work in a professional salon environment.

Esthetics Program

600 hours | 21 weeks

Aveda Institute’s Esthetics Program in Columbus, OH teaches skin care, body care, waxing & makeup with an emphasis on high-touch techniques using high-tech delivery during spa clinic treatments. Upon completion, you will be ready to take the Ohio state licensing exam.\

ADVANCED ESTHETICIAN Program

150 hours | 4 weeks

The Advanced Esthetician Program is offered at no additional charge only to graduates in good standing from the Nurtur Aveda Institute Columbus Esthiology Program. The Advanced Program consists of both advanced training and hands-on experience. Advanced students work closely with the Director of Education and the Institute’s licensed instructors. The understanding and application of rules and laws governing cosmetology in the state of Ohio are the foundation of both the theory and practice components of the program.

ESTHETICIAN INSTRUCTOR Program

500 hours | 13 weeks

The Esthetician Instructor Programs are offered at no additional charge only to a very limited number of Institute graduates. Individuals interested in participating in the Esthetician Instructor Program are encouraged to contact the Director. Please see the Course Catalog for more details. The Esthetician Instructor Program consists of both advanced training and hands-on experience. Trainees work with the Director and with experienced educators who hold a variety of advanced Aveda certifications. Training includes the study of adult learning styles and education techniques, presentation skills, and classroom management. Trainees also learn and practice lesson planning and test creation and security. The understanding and application of rules and laws governing cosmetology in the state of Ohio are the foundation of both the theory and practice components of the program.

Federal Financial Aid

Federal student aid is available to qualified students. Those that qualify may be awarded a Pell grant, Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and/or Direct Parent Plus loan. In order to be considered for aid, a student must complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The amount of financial aid that a student may be awarded is based on a student’s EFC (Expected Family Contribution), which is determined by his or her FAFSA application.

Veterans Education Benefits

Students eligible for Veterans Education benefits may be able to use these funds to help finance their education. Our institute currently accepts all forms of Veterans Education benefits, with the exception of the yellow ribbon program. The school will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other instructional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement funding from the VA.

  • Esthiology is esthetics. Esthetics is the practice of skin care and related skin beautification. This can be by the means of a facial, body treatment, waxing, or even makeup application.

  • An Esthetician provides services focused on skin care including, but not limited to, skin treatments, facials, makeup application and hair removal. Learn more about what an esthetician is here

  • Both occupations are licensed skin care specialists. Generally, Estheticians focus on cosmetic treatments, and Aestheticians’ roles are more medical.
